Miscellaneous Items

On Saturday, January 27, 1996, we conducted a Fire Department information session which was
attended by five people. Four of them expressed an interest in being interviewed. Interviews
were conducted on Saturday, February 10.

In a review of records, we discovered that several patrol officers and firefighters hired during the
past twelve months had not received Hepatitis-B vaccinations. Those employees have been
advised of the City policy and given the opportunity to receive the vaccine.

We are advertising for part-time summer Park Workers already, hoping to fill our positions
before all the likely candidates have made other summer plans.

Staff Recommendation:

1. We should specify in the City of Ramsey Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing
Act Implementation Policy that evaluations necessitated by positive drug and alcohol test results
will be paid for by the affected employee.

2. The Personnel Committee should specify what part, if any, it wants to exercise in the
selection of the new Public Works Maintenance Worker.

Committee Action:

1. Motion to recommend Council amendment to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee
Testing Act and Related Regulations Implementation Policy to specify that evaluations
necessitated by positive drug or alcohol test results will be paid for by the affected employee.

2.
