CASE # // VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER By: Community Development Intern Sue Matthews Background: After the appreciation dinner case was presented at the City Council meeting on March 12, 1996, staff was directed to meet with two Council members to discuss options concerning the guest lisp. A vote was not taken to either support or deny the case but to gather further information for Council consideration. Observations: A meeting was held at the Ramsey Municipal Center at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 1996, with Councilmembers Beahen and Beyer, Sue Matthews, and Linda Waite- Smith. The option preferred was to include approximately ten (10) additional commissioners (any that have sewed since 1994), and eliminate staff except for the five (5) commission liaisons. (Apparently City employees prefer to arrange a separate function, such as a picnic, so that this evening would remain as a recognition for volunteers.) Specific dates and possibld locations for the dinner were also discussed. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council host a volunteer appreciation dinner to officially repognize the valuable efforts made by Ramsey's commissioners. Attendees: Councilmembers: 5 Commissioners: 38 Guests: 48 Staff Liaisons: 5 96 Date: Monday evening, April 22, 1996 Location: To be determined Cost: Invitations, postage, presentation materials, and 96 dinners at $2,100. This is the original estimate. Remaining funds will be returned to the Council. Council Action: Motion to adopt Resolution #96 -03 -dam uthorizing budget amendment allocating two thousand one hundred dollars ($2,100.) from the Council Contingency Fund for a Volunteer Appreciation dinner.
