I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> LELS CONTRACT RATIFICATION <br />By: Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City's negotiating team and representatives of Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. <br />(LELS) have nagotiated an employment agreement that covers the period of January 1, 1996 <br />through December 3 !, 1997. <br /> <br />The contract provides for a 3% increase in wages, effective January 1, 1996 and a 3% increase in <br />wages effective: January 1, 1997. It also provides a $22 per month increase in the City's <br />contribution to family health care coverage (making it $312 per month), effective August 1, 1996 <br />and a $22 per'month increase (making it $334 per month), effective August 1, 1997. The <br />contract adds one paid holiday, Christmas Eve Day, which other employees already had. Finally, <br />it eliminates the requirement for testing before employees are eligible for Proficiency Pay (step <br />increases). <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommeads that the Personnel Committee recommend that the City Council adopt the <br />attached resolutlon approving the negotiated 1996-1997 labor agreement between the City and <br />Law Enforcemei~t Labor Services, Inc. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />PC 05/14/96 <br /> <br /> <br />
