I
I
I
I
I
i

I
I
I
I
I
I

4

REPORT ON 1996 COMMUNITY EVENTS
By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer

Background:

As you are well aware, most of the 1996 Community Events have taken place. The following
briefly summarizes :the results of each event this year.

Annual Pet Clinic

The 1996 Annual Pet Clinic was held on Saturday, April 27, 1996, at Central Park. As in past
years, there was a very good turnout, even though it was a bit on the "chilly" side.

In an attempt to tM and "smooth" the flow of activities, we employed enough staff help to
provide two ongoing lines and a "floater" position for relief and to act as the "go-for". Other
than part-time help that was used, staff time was earned as compensatory time and taken off in
the same payperiod and amounted to approximately 24.5 hours for hourly employees [$236.14] 6
hours for exempt ~mployees [$138.77] and another 7.5 hours for paid part-time help [$38.68].
The total cost for! employees was approximately $413.59. Other costs associated with the
operation of the pot clinic would be utilities and associated building use costs [it is not possible
to accurately estim~tte this cost]. A brief summary of the days activities follows:

Licenses Issued: Dogs 266
Cats 61

Note: The fees generated from the issuance of dog and cat licenses totaled $1,188.00. As in past
years, licenses were provided at a reduced rate.

Vaccinations Administered:

Rabies -
Dogs 252
Cats 87
Distemper 296
PanRC 86

Note: Per the contract with the providing clinic, the City received a total of $1, 485. O0 in returns
on the vaccinations administered The amounts charged the customers for the various
vaccinations was reduced significantly [$6. O0 - $12.00] from the office visit prices [$20. O0 -
$$7. ooJ.

It is the intention of the City that the required contributions back from the provider on
vaccinations be enough to cover the City's cost of providing the clinic. The contribution to the
City from the shots was $1.00 - $3.00, depending on the vaccination type. The City netted
approximately $1,071.41 on the day, not including the sale of the pet licenses, which brings the
total to $2,259.41.
