The assignment included examining and recommending a process for interviewing
applicants, the most important criteria for members of various commissions, the optimum
number of seats fol' each commission, and whether someone should be allowed to serve on two
commissions simultaneously. On April 9, 1996 I presented my report and recommendations to
the City Council.. I was directed to gather additonal information about qualifications the City
should seek in commissioners.

By the time of the June 11 Council meeting, each commission will have had the opportunity to
give me additional ~information. Because the Planning Commission and Economic Development
Commission meetihgs fall on June 4 and 6, respectively, the information is not available at the
time the June 11 Council agenda is being prepared. The information will be available at the
meeting.

Council Action:

Based on discussion.

Reviewed By:

City Administrator
Administrative Services Manager

Copies also distributed to:

CC 06/11/96

qW'7
