As many of you are aware the City of Ramsey has
one of the lowest tax rates in Anoka County and the 7-County Metropolitan Area. From the
comments that we hear from residents, it appears that this information has not been as widely
distributed as we thought. For your use and dissemination, I have included a chart comparing the
property tax rates for similar-sized communities in the Metropolitan Area.

Attached for your review are the building permit reports for the month of June, 1996. As the
reports show, the City issued 23 new home permits which compares to the 21 projected during this
period in the residential activity forecast. This brings the total single family home permits to 162
for the year. This rate of construction puts the City on a path to construct a total of 250 new homes
in 1996, which will result in a population increase of approximately 858 people, bringing the
estimated total population to 17,991.

If you have any questions concerning these reports, please contact me.
