Ms. Frolik explained that condition <br />//4 was for verifidalion purposes. Commissioner Holland stated that he would not like less than what <br />was shown in the drawing .at this meeting. Ms. Frolik added that tiffs ~II requires City Council <br />approval. <br /> <br />Motion carried.. Voting Yes: Chairperson Bawdcm. Commissioners Deemer, Jensen, Holland, <br />LaDue, Terry, and Tbomd. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case//8: Request for a Conditional Use Permit for a Personal Communication Service <br /> TOwer; Case of American Portable Telecom <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik explained that this was a request for a conditional use permit to <br />construct a 165 £o~pt lattice tower. She added that the tower would be on a 50' x 50' section of the <br />subject property, i Ms. Yrolik stated that the site operations include a maximum ofsix 5' x 3' x 3' <br />equipment cabinet~ placed on a 10' x 20' cement pad.' She explained that the tower and cabinets will <br />be encompassed With'an eight foot high chain link fence topped with three strands of barbed w/re. <br />Ms. Frolik stated ~ the site and access to it will be prepared with a gravel surface and there va21 <br />be no personnel stationed at the site. <br /> <br />Commissioner Jensen asked if the tower would be freestanding with no cables. Mr. Dyer replied <br />affirmatively. <br /> <br />Chakperson Bawd~ asked ffthis tower was for cellular telephones. Mr. Dyer explained that this was <br />a new technologY l;hat operated digitally rather than analog. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thorad asked if this would create any interference to residents. Mr. Dyer explained <br />that it would not. ]~s. Frolik stated that she received information bom the league of MS~nesota dries <br />confirming that this was Iow power wattage. <br /> <br />Commissioner JensOn clarified that there would be concrete with a chain link fence around it. Mr. <br />Dyer explained there would be a total of four equipment cabinets. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Comnfissioner Jens~. asked about maintenance regarding landscaping. Mr. Dyer explained that the <br />outsides of the cement will be rocked, so there will probably not be a problem w/th weeds. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaI)ue asked where American Portable Telecom. was based. Mr. Dyer explained that <br />they have ~ office i~ Bloomington, and a headquarters in Ckicago, Illinois. Commissioner LaDue <br />asked if there will b~ more towers in the area. Mr. Dyer explained thai there will be more towers, <br />as this is a network.~stem.
