options for City employees. They are recommending that the best alternative is to stay with PuNic <br />Employees Insurance Program (PEIP). Besides continuing coverage through PEIP, they are also <br />recommending that we no longer contract with our insurance agent. We can deal with PEIP <br />directly. The agent's assistance was helpful two years ago but now we would not be realizing any <br />benefit of that assistance. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen stated that she is still very uncomfortable with that amount of money given <br />back for single coverage when it's in excess of what we are having to pay. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend Council <br />authorize staff to 'continue participation in the Public Employees Insurance Program for the period <br />of September 1, 1996 through August 31, 1997. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen and Beyer.
