' .... <br /> <br />Case #3: Volunteer Fire Fighter Appointments <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith reported there are currently four vacancies in the <br />Fire Department and sixteen people on the list of eligible candidates. Staff is recommending that <br />positions be offered to the following four individuals, based on their ranking on the list, time spent <br />on the list, and hours available to respond to calls: Chad Evans, Scott Ilstrup, Craig Lecy and Jim <br />Tibbets. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend Council <br />authorize staff to hire Chad Evans, Scott Ilstrup, Craig Lecy and Jim Tibbets as Volunteer Fire <br />Fighters, contingent on passing the required physical examination, driver's license check and <br />background check. <br /> <br />Voting Yes: MaYor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen and Beyer. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: Discuss Performance Appraisal Process for City Administrator <br /> <br />Administrative Se~ices Manager Waite Smith stated that it's time for the performance appraisal for <br />the City AdminisWator and she questioned what process the Committee would prefer. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin remembered that in the past, we solicited Councilmember's ideas. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer remembered that staff also filled out evaluations on the City Administrator. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin didn't feel that was necessary. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen asked if it may be helpful to have department heads do an appraisal. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin feltit wasn't necessary but didn't have a problem with it. <br /> <br />Ms. Wake Smith ,commented that she has seen that used as a personal growth tool but not <br />necessarily to be part of the appraisal. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen stated she would be interested in having department heads fill out <br />evaluations. <br /> <br />Consensus was that the appraisal process should be placed on the next Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />Case #5: ReCommendation for Health Care Coverage Contract for 9/01/96 to <br /> 8/3:1/97 <br /> <br />Administrative SerVices Manager Waite Smith explained that this case is an update of what is being <br />recommended for i)eaith care coverage for September 1996 to August 1997.
