Ms. Wake Smith reported that following research, it was concluded that the City employees will be <br /> best served by staying with the Public Employees Insurance Program. This program offers <br /> employees a choice of three health care plans: Medica, Health Partners and Blue Plus. The rates <br /> have not changed from last year, however, family coverage dropped and single coverage slightly <br /> increased. Consensus of the Personnel Committee was that the City need not contract with an <br /> insurance agent to provide assistance for the coming year, <br /> <br /> Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to authorize staff to <br /> continue participation in the Public Employees Insurance Program for the period of September 1, <br /> 1996 through August 31, 1997. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and <br /> Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br /> ADJOURNMENT/RECESS <br /> <br /> Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recess the regular <br /> meeting to Wednesday, August 14, 1996, at 5:00 at which time Council will discuss the <br /> Hendriksen versus City of Ramsey lawsuit in a closed attomey/client meeting and also to talk <br /> above a possible employee discipline action.
