Section 5.6.1. PROCEDURE TO AMEND. <br />Upon presentation of a petition containing the signatures of 5 <br />percent of the voters participating in the last city'wide election, <br />the charter commission shall forward to the governing body/city <br />clerk the proposed amendment to the charter, to be placed on a <br />ballot for approval or rejection by the electorate as submitted <br />without alteration. If no city wide election will occur within 6 <br />months of the presentation of the petition and proposed <br />amendment to the governing body/city clerk, the governing body <br />shall cause a special election to occur within 90 days to allow the <br />electors to vote on the proposed amendment. <br /> <br /> <br />
