ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION VISION
By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

CASE #3

Background:

During the comprehensive land use plan update, it was questioned as to the role each
Commission should fill. In the case of the EDC, it was formed at a time when the City lacked
any clear direction for economic development purposes. This led to the City developing a strong
presence in thes~ areas as indicated with the development of the Instant Equity program and the
recent growth in, the commercial/industrial facility development. In addition, the City has seen
the development of the revolving loan fund and the start of Highway 10 revitalization.

These changes led Chairperson Wagner to question the continued existence of the Commission
in its current form. He has suggested the Commission may wish to review its purpose and
whether it makes some sense to change direction.

Commission Action:

Based upon discttssion, the Commission should make a recommendation as to the future of the
EDC for the City of Ramsey.

Reviewed By:
Economic Development Coordinator
City Administrator

EDC:09/04/96
