Section 7. Chairperson Pro Tern <br /> <br />In the absence of the Chief and the Assistant Chief at any meeting of the Department, the most <br />senior officer present will act as Chairperson Pro Tern. <br /> <br />Section 8. Board of Officers <br /> <br />The Board of Officers shall consist of the Chief, Assistant Chief, Secretary, Training Officer, <br />Captains, and Lieutenants. <br /> <br />Section 9. Qualifications for Membership Application <br /> <br />In addition to the qualifications set forth in the Application for Membership Requirements, no <br />person shall be admitted into regular or Limited Duty Fire Fighter/Trainee membership unless <br />they live within a nine minute driving response time to the nearest fire station, or work within the <br />City of Ramsey and agree to the following stipulations; <br /> <br />1. Applies on the Application for Membership Form <br /> <br />When an opening in the Department becomes available, applications, are presented <br />before the Chief, Assistant Chief and Administrative Services Manager. If necessary, <br />the applicant's name can be rejected for working or availability reasons only. The <br />selected applicants are then to be interviewed by the Chief, Assistant Chief and <br />Administrative Services Manager. The interview process will consist of three parts: a <br />Reading Comprehension Test; a Math Proficiency Test; and questions which are <br />assigned scores depending on the applicant's response. Candidates must receive a <br />score of at least 7C[% on the math test and on the reading test in order to be eligible for <br />fin~er consideration. When the interview process is completed, the Chief, Assistant <br />Chief and Administrative Services Manager will agree on a consensus score for each <br />interview and candidate names will be added to the list of eligible candidates, which <br />is ranked by interview scores. <br /> <br />When a Fire Fighter position becomes available, the Chief, Assistant Chief and <br />Administrative Services Manager may offer the position to any person on the list. The <br />person with the highest score wilI generally receive preference, but other factors may <br />be taken into consideration, including the length of time a person has been on the list. <br />If the applicant is accepted, they then must get an official Fire Department physical <br />within thirty (30) days, paid for by the City. The applicant becomes a Limited Duty <br />Fire Fighter/Trainee when the passed and signed physical is submitted-to the <br />Personnel Department and all membership requirements have been fulfilled, including <br />the SCBA, Ladder and Hose Test. The applicant cannot report for duty until the <br />Chief has received verification of the above. <br /> <br />3. The person is now considered a Limited Duty Fire Fighter/Trainee and is entitled to <br /> all benefits.
