This contributes to achieving the following visions in the MN-RRA CMP:

* Residents and visitors are able to traverse the entire length of the corridor by foot and
bicycle.

* The corridor Offers a broad range of recreational and educational experiences closely tied
to the character ~f the resource and complementing other recreational opportunities in the
metropolitan area.

* Public access ~s provided to a range of natural and cultural resources in ways that do not
damage resources or violate the fights of private landowners.

* The MNNRA'.corridor includes a system of park lands connected by the river w/th a
system of linear ~arks and other elements that facilitate public access to the fiver.

* Protection and. enhancement of the river corridor's natural and cultural resources are seen
as positive elements in economic development strate~es.

* Activities in the MNRRA corridor support interests of local communities in improving the
pubIic awareness Of fiver resources.

* The MNRRA eeorridor enriches the lives of metropolitan residents and visitors by
enhancing regional, natural, cultural, and aesthetic resources and by contributing to regional
socioeconomic grCwth.

Prod¢cts

1. A completed visual simulation presentation of 10 landscape categories that demonstrates a
variety of trail surface applications, river corridor views, trail uses, treatments of sensitive
natural and cultur~ resources, ADA standards, trail planning issues related to adjacent land
uses, and the landscapes of the Mississippi river corridor.

2. The visual simulation will be prepared in two phases. Phase one (completed August
1996) is the proto/ype and will illustrate a variety of landscapes and trail planning treatments
that will be presen, ted at the fiver planning workshops of the Mississippi River Regional
Trail. Phase Two i(to be completed in 1997) will be an expanded version and will more
broadly represent the land use and site development policies of the MNRRA CMP.
