CASE # ~
MAINTI~NANCE CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR CIVIL DEFENSE SIREN
SYSTEM
By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer

Background:

The City of Ramsey has in the past contracted with Doradus Corporation for the maintenance and
repairs to our ~ivil defense siren system. During the development of the 1996 budget, a minor
increase in coats to this contract had been assumed and a budget of $3,000 was adopted for the
renewal of thii particular contract. We recently received the contract renewal pr/ce of $3,604,
which is somewhat higher than what had been anticipated.

Doradus CorpOration has the software for testing and evaluating the systems, exclusively, thus is
our only resou!~ce for this ser,,ice. Conversations with the County indicate that other agencies are
renewing their rcontracts with Doradus Corporation for 1996.

While the cost~ is $604 more than originally budgeted, it is necessary that we have this type of
service contract. Depending on the outcome of the 1994 actual figures, there may be sufficient
monies budgeted in other categories for 1996 in the Civil Defense cost center that could absorb this
overage. /
Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the attached contract with Doradus Corporation for
Maintenance of Civil Defense Siren Receiver/Decoders.

Committee Action: '~

Motion to recommend Council approve the attached contrao(with Doradus Corporation fo
Maintenance of Civil Defense Siren Receiver/Decoders.

Reviewed By:

City Administrator
Finance Officer
Police Chief

FC: 1/24/95
