Mr. Schro~er stated that the amount being talked about would equate to a 9.17 percent <br />increase. <br /> <br />Chief AusP°s stated he has no problem with that at all. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated that he had not been approached by any of the other exempt personnel <br />except Mr. Boos, but that he thought generally the employees see this wage plan as fair. <br />We have been effectively talking about this for three years. He felt that no one would see <br />action taken: tonight as harsh as they have had the opportunity to discuss the wages prior to <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmernber Zimmerman stated that the recommendation could be made by the <br />Personnel C~mmiuee and Council could decide what kind of action they wanted to take. <br /> <br />Mayor Hard,in asked Mr. Boos if he would like to address the Committee, to which Mr, <br />Boos replied no. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Mayor Hardin to recommend <br />Council approve the same medical benefits for the exempt personnel as was approved for <br />AFSCME and that the wage table presented be approved with the caveat that at a separate <br />meeting, an additional amount of $2,914.50 be discussed for wages for the Police Chief. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin and Councilmember Zimmerman. Voting No: <br /> <br />1) Wag°s - Andover and Anoka County <br /> <br />City Adrrfinistrator Schroeder commented that the City of Andover has decided their wages <br />were signific~.ntly below what they should be and they are making some significant <br />adjustments. <br /> <br />Councilmemb~er Zimmerman stated that Anoka County has taken care of increasing wages <br />for employees who were paid very low but there has not been much of a cost of living <br />increase for others. <br /> <br />2) Average Percentages of Wages <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that the Council has talked about bringing Ramsey's <br />employees up to where other cities are. He suggested it would be interesting to look at <br />where the people are at average and to show them that the Council is indeed working with <br />the employeesto better their salaries. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder ~;tated he would supply Council with that information. <br /> <br />Mayor Hard/n Suggested it would also be interesting if the wage table showed a percentage <br />above or below, the m/d-point. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder replied he could also supply that information. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee/January 10, 1995 <br /> Page 3 of 4 t~.~ <br /> <br /> <br />
