<br />Attached is a ~opy of the City of Ramsey's Education Policy adopted by City Council oh
<br />May 14, 199L The current Education Policy states that any full-time City employee
<br />attending and [avorably completing (C or better) the continuing education will be eligible
<br />for reimburser0ent of the cost of tuition and materials if certain criteria are met.
<br />
<br />On Novemberi7, 1994 the Personnel Committee met to discuss some options'allowing for
<br />tuition reimbu~ement. The Personnel Committee thought that such a policy was beneficial
<br />and directed ~/taff to rework the policy and bring a specific policy to the Personnel
<br />Committee for'rewew.
<br />
<br />The following!is a chart of the dollars budgeted for training for the years I990 through
<br />1994 and the afi'~ount left over at the end of each year:

<br />EDUCATION POLICY/TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
<br />
<br />The current eduSation policy/tuition reimbursement for the City of Ramsey set forth in
<br />the Ramsey Cit~, Code, and outlined in Resolution ~1-05-097, states that any full-time
<br />City employee,i that has been with the City for at least one year, attending and
<br />favorably .(C---o~ae~m~ completing the continuing education will be eligible for the
<br />reimbursement of the cost of tuition and materials as follows:

<br />1. The education must be directly related to the employee's job description.
<br />
<br />2. The educ~ttional course must be specifically approved by the appropriate Department
<br /> Head andlby the r',;,.,,..,,/r',..,,,,,.,._.,,,,,,~,, City Administrator or the City Council before
<br /> the empl~,yee commences attendance, and approved course must be taken at an
<br /> employe~approved facility. Reimbursement cost will be determined using
<br /> the Stati~ University System for those employees attending a private
<br /> college, i The City will reimburse for accredited classes at an
<br /> accredited school. Correspondence courses wilI not be eligible for
<br /> reimbursement.
