CC: ~ Mayor and Council Planning Commission Park and Recreation Commission Economic Development Commission FROM~ Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor RE: Tree Conservation Policy Process I I I I I I Earlier this spring, you received the summary and meeting minutes of a tree conservation policy workshop that you were invited to. Four basic points thought to be noncontroversial were extracted from the meeting summary. These are: · Require the minimum equivalent of one, two-inch front yard tree for each new lot created ! I Significant individual trees and stands of trees should be identified on the grading plan for protection consideration Require common bury for utilities in the road right-of-way Encourage builders to protect the save trees on individual lots with fencing The above are expected to be ratified by City Council with the intent of routinely addressing the issues during the subdivision and development agreement process. Attached is an April City Council case introducing the aforementioned, and the earlier March 9, 1995 memorandum. At 4:30, May t7 at City Hall, City Staff will be available to discuss your thought~ on trees and related issues. Comments from this meeting, or by letter (or fax 427-5543) will be forwarded to Council for consideration in the Tree Conservation Policy examination. ? It is expected that Council will act on this issue in May, 1995. If Staff is unable to forward any new comments to City Council, it will likely be perceived that the earlier consensus recommendation detailed in the March 9, 1995 memorandum is indeed the consensus recommendation by developers.
