The
frontage road is thelprimary access to the technical college located further west on Highway 10. We
suggested that an ~dditional access ~rom I-Iighway 10, while inconsistent wifft Mn/DOT's long
range goal, may ad. tually function better than the current frontage road, design given the future
traffic volumes.

Mn/DOT has tenta~tively agreed to look at future volumes, intersection options and a delay in their
proposed traffic s'q~nal project. The C:ty of Anoka may also w~sh to Iook at future options and
needed improverr~nts on Thurston Avenue, especially at the frontage road intersection and at
Highway 10. Mn/DOT will be looking ~or some direction and cooperation from the City of Anoka.
It does not appear~that there will be a significant amount of time spent by the City other than to
provide existing ~.formafion or to evaluate different concel?tS and offer suggesti?sl.'
As you suggested, i~ may be desirable to discuss hhis at a Council mee~in§ as.an ir~d~tit~m near
the end of the agenda on May 15. Because of a prior commitment, I can come k~ the Council
meeting to ass/st y~u w/th your d/scussion, but ! may not arrive un~l approx/ma~aly 8:00 p.m.

I appreciated the ~p~ortunity to work with you in meeting with Mn/DOT and discussing some
options and the C~ s concerns. If we may be of further assistance, please call me.

Sincerely,
Short Eniot, Hen~ickson Inc.

Glen Van Worme~J, P.E.
Manager, TranspcJrtation Department
