Federal legislation is <br />listening more than our own state is. An amendment has gone in <br />federal legislation stating that nothing will prevent a state or local from <br />collecting for the use of right-of-ways. This should help the <br />Commission put local ordinances in individual cities. He is working <br />with MACTA to develop a sample ordinance to have out by the end of <br />May. <br /> <br />Nagel asked when the Commission could expect the Federal <br />Legislature to act? Creighton stated that they would act after Easter <br />recess and before summer. His guess is that as soon as the Senate <br />moves there will be a companion bill in the House. The industry <br />wants something to come out to get the FCC off everyones back. <br /> <br />Nage! requested information on federal activity, because he wanted to <br />discuss some cable issues with 6th District Congressman Bill Luther <br />when he visited Anoka. <br /> <br />O'Connetl posed the question to Creighton regarding the balance of <br />costs that the League has not collected in contributions. Creighton <br />replied that it will be the attorney's that will eat the cost as they did the <br />work.
