2 <br /> <br />CMs. Hart stated that it is difficult to give some of Jo's duties to others until we get a full <br />:staff back in Administrative Services. She suggested waiting to see what the Finance <br />!person brings with regard to abilities. She stated she would love to get someone in here, at <br />}the level Mary was, to pick up some of her (Hart's) duties. She added that she is confident <br />~that Jo's ability to supervise is there. <br /> <br />~Mr. Schroeder commented that all Staff is suggesting is that we take three to four months to <br />~nalyze our situation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer inquired about Department Heads taking over some of the duties that <br />ihad been done for them by the Administrative Services Manager. <br /> <br />~Mr. Schroeder stated that we only have three Department Heads and he felt that they are not <br />~necessarily looking around for more to do either. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer suggested it could be done temporarily. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated he could approach the Department Heads on this idea. <br /> <br />Ns. Hart informed the Committee that some of the duties have already been spread around. <br />Some of the things Kay took care of have been given to Linda and Shelly in the Finance <br />.Office. A lot of these tasks have been streamlined. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder added that streamlining has been an on-going process. <br /> <br />~Case #3: Request for Educational Reimbursement <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that the current educational policy is included with the <br />case materials and that Police Officer Jim Way is asking for reimbursement for a police <br />management course. <br /> <br />Police Chief Auspos stated that when he sets up his Department budget, it is set up for day <br />{o day things. The education policy is set up for an advancement of an employee, which he <br />[eels should come from a training budget as opposed to his own Department budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin inquired if Chief Auspos' recommendation comes because Officer Way will <br />bring back to the department something that he does not have now. <br /> <br />~hief Auspos felt anytime you go to a training or class dealing with your department, you <br />bring something back. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin inquired if this had to have supervisor approval prior to coming for funding, <br />would he recommend Officer Way take this and that the City should pay for it. <br /> <br />Chief Auspos replied yes and he would also recommend it for someone else too - <br />-whomever he feels would most benefit from it. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin stated that this education policy had been discussed and it was decided at that <br />time that it needed more "tweaking". <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated he is hoping the Committee can table this or anything like it until we <br />have a chance to further review it. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> <br />Personnel <br /> <br />Committee/April 11, 1995 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
