NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
Consensus of the Commission to note the following:
1. - City Council regular meeting minutes dated April 11, 1995.
NOTE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Consensus of the Commission to note the following:
1. Planning Commission public hearing and regular meeting minutes dated May 2, 1995.
COMMISSION BUSINESS:
Case #1: DISCUSS PARK DEDICATION FOR ANOKA ELECTRIC
COOPERATIVE ENERGY PARK
Anoka Electric Cooperative (AEC) intends on subdividing 138 acres from their new site for
commercial/industrial lots.
They are proposing the dedication of approximately 27 acres of wetland and its shores to be
developed with picnic sites and walking paths to serve nearby employment sites and also travelers
along County Road #116.
Doug Uhrhammer, AEC, explained that the project has been in the working for 11/2 years. AEC
is building a 15 million dollar building and "state of the art" business park and would like to give
something back to the community by donating the 27 acres to the City and develop it into a rest
stop /trail area for the employees of the businesses park as well as residents. He reiterated that AEC
has -a vested interest in this plan.
Mr. Uhrhammer indicated that he has had conversations with Don Otter, Waste Management,
owners of property to the northeast of the AEC site, and that W. Otter is happy with the plans.
Mayor Hardin inquired as to provisions for parking at the park.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos indicated that it depended on how the park was developed.
Chairperson Hetland questioned how the trail would be paid for and by whom.
Mr. Uhrhammer suggested that over time, an attempt will be made to involve all the industries in
the-facility to work together to get the trail system in.
Mr. Uhrhammer explained that the City of Anoka wants an 80 foot easement to run transmission
lines down the property line between AEC and Waste Management. Mr. Otter and Mr.
Uhrhammer are working with the City of Anoka to re -route the lines diverting them to the east side
of the Waste Management property line.
Ultimately, a trail system will exist all along County Road #116. Mr. Uhrhammer indicated that
actress to the facility will be from Ramsey Blvd. and County Road #116 with an exit road to
Sunwood Drive. He said there would be no problem putting a road to the trail if needed.
Park and Recreation Commission /June 8, 1995
Page 2 of 6
