Mound allows only passenger cars and pick-up trucks (no more than one ton capacity if commercially licer~sed.) Mounds View doer not allow any trucks over one ton chassis design weight. Richfield does not allow any tractors, truck-tractors, trailers, buses or trucks with a capacity of more than one ton. Savage does not allow any commercial vehicles over one and one-half (1 1/2) tons or commercial trailers except tha~t one such commercial vehicle may be stored inside if it the owner/operator resides on the prOperty. No vehicles over 12,000 pounds gross weight or 19 feet or more in length may be stored on residential property unless it is stored inside. Shakopee does no~ allow any commercial vehicles or equipment to be stored outside. Commercial vehicles less than ~Sne ton may be stored inside. $t;, Anthony allows one camping or recreational vehicle, but no other vehicles over 9,000 pounds. St. Louis Park does not allow any vehicles over 6,000 pounds empty weight, 22 feet in length or 8 feet high (exclude~ RVs in excess of 22 feet in length, if parked in rear yard at least 5 feet from adjacent property lines). Wayzata does not allow trucks over 12,000 pounds gross weight or 30 feet or more in length. Bo~ts, fish housesl school buses, trailers, farm tractors and motor homes must be kept in the rear or side yard and M fully screened from adjoining properties and public right-of-way. There is a lot of Variety in how other Cities handle commercial vehicle storage in residential districts. Council heeds to look at how they want Ramsey to look. Recommendation: City Staff is recommending that City Council consider the following options: DO NOTHING Direct staff to continue to enforce the current ordinance and accept applications for cort~litional use permits to store commercial vehicles on residential property. Each applicant will be considered on a case by case basis. -or- GRANT A UNIFORM TIME FRAME FOR COMPLIANCE Direct staff to continue to enforce the current ordinance, discourage applications for cor~d~t~onal use permits, and administer a reasonable and uniform time frame for compliance. -or- RE~/RITE ORDINANCE Dirbct staff to propose an ordinance amendment to amend regulations for storing con~mercial vehicles on residential property based on the results of the area survey. During the interim, property owners in violation of the current ordinance should be logged with any enforcement action delayed until the new ordinance is in place.
