SYSTEM, <br /> <br /> Any person or local gover~nent unit in the metropolitan area may <br /> <br /> be required to provide for the discharge of its waste, directly or <br /> indirectly, into the MDS, or to connect any disposal system or part of it <br /> with the MDS wherever reasonable opportunity is provided. The Chief <br /> Administrator may require discharge flow measuring for connections to <br /> the HDS using appropriate methods. <br /> <br /> Within 24 months after a public sewer connected to the MDS becomes <br />available to a property served by a private sewage disposal system or <br />treatment works, a connection shall be made to the public sewer in <br />accordance with these rules. The private dtspDsal facilities shall be <br />abandoned in a safe and suitable manner. <br /> <br /> The Chief Administrator may exempt industrial users discharging via <br />an NPDES/SDS permit fro~ the requirements of this paragraph. <br /> <br /> The following conditions apply to new connections to the Metropolitan <br />Disposal System. <br /> <br /> A. no connection shall be made without prior issuance of a <br /> connection permit for the connection and, if required, the' <br /> <br /> payment of a permit f~e, MOS reserve capacity charges, or both; <br /> <br /> B. whenever any person or l~cal government unit desires to connect, <br /> an application for the connection shall be submitted to the <br /> Chief Administrator. All applications for connection permits <br /> shall be made by an appropriate representative of the local <br /> government unit in which the connection is to be located; <br /> <br /> C. an application shall include plans, specifications and <br /> connection details showing the location, dimensions, depths, <br /> and grades of any sewer or sewer system to be connected. <br /> <br /> 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
