This facility will be located in the new Ramsey Business Park 95, cur-
rently being developed east of Sunfish Lake Boulevard N.W. The new facility was made possible
through the cooperation of Carbon Product Technology, Sharp Construction, and the City of Ramsey.
"This is one of th~ pieces to complete the redef'mement of Ramsey's commercial/industrial area
evidenced by the new Wendell's, Inc. and Detail Tool and Engineering facilities," stated Mayor Glen
Hardin. He furthe~ added that this trend will continue with the development of the Anoka Electric
Cooperative Headquarters and the AEC Energy Park.

Carbon Product_ Technology is a seven-year-old company that provides carbon/graphite electrode
blanks used in the electrical discharge machining process. The company was born from Jim DeLally's
observation of the handling of graphite and carbon at machine shops and injection molding process.

What Jim noticed was that one of the most hated jobs at these shops was the handling of graphite
and carbon blocks. This was due to it being a dirty and dusty job that the shops were not equipped to
handle. Jim decidedlthat the process could be made cleaner and more efficient by creating a company
that provided the blanks for the molds in a pre-cut nature. This new company would be designed with
the correct equipmea~t to allow for the safe, clean, cutting of the carbon/graphite blocks. The company
has seen steady growth from its inception, and projects that this growth will continue well into the future.
"We as a company d~ided that we needed a new, larger facility, as we had outgrown the 5,400 square
feet we currently lea~e in Maple Grove," said Jim DeLally, president of Carbon Product Technology.
"We looked at a few different communities, and decided that the City of Ramsey, with all of its
amenities, was the p!ace to build. This decision was further strengthened by the supportive and 'easy-
to-work-with' City Council and staff that we found at the City. We look forward to becoming involved
with the City, and to be a strong, positive force in its continued development."

(Mayoral Minute Continued)
This new commercial/industrial growth is combined with the City's continued single-family household
development, which has led to the construction of over 1,200 new homes since 1991. With the average
market value of over $140,000, the residential tax base of the City has been increased by over 165 million
dollars. With the continued activities ofapro-active City Council, the City should see this strengthening
of the local economy'.continue into the future.
