Therefore, we recommended elimination of the regular Environmental Specialist position in deference to possible project assistance in the summer months. This is still the case. If Council wishes to continue the Envkonmental Specialist position we would suggest providing funding during the period of time that we have needs in that and other areas where the position can be utilized. This would be from May 1 through September 30. It is expected that our needs would be for no more than a 0.50 FIE during this time period. If Council is interested in something to that effect, we would ask for an allocation from the Council Contingency or the temporary staffing line items to support the expenditure. We would also expect that the position would not be scheduled for the balance of the year. Committee Action: Motion to recommend that Council allocate funding for a 0.50 FrE position from May 1 through September 30, t996, to cover forestry, code enforcement, and public improvement inspections.
