He stated he has lived in his home and when the golf course was built, there was no plans showing a iilding. He suggested placing the building on the side of the club house so it is outside the~own window as opposed to his. He felt there are alternative sites but they are just more e.kpensive. The City shouldn't have to worry about that because the money is not coming our of its pocket. He felt that the residents are right and the golf course is wrong and this!is founded by the facts. He reported that it was proposed to the residents in the past that th~ golf course would not create any problems with aesthetics or resale value of the homes ila the neighborhood and the facts presented by Mr. Schmidt stated that this would be negatively impacting the neighborhood. He suggested that if this was happening in one of the~eighborhoods Council lived in, they would be against it too. All the residents in thfi area have spoken against this. The only people who have spoken for this is the golf courselpeople. He reiterated there are other alternatives, they are just more cosily. Terry Miller, 1~5731 Iodine Street N.W., Ramsey, stated he lives on the north part of this property. Th~ comment that no one is for this development other than the golf course people is not dorrect. We have investments in the area too, but we are in favor of the building. He felt the building is needed for safety of the employees not having to cross Highway g47. iHe added there are others in the audience also in favor of this building. Fred Hillyer, 5741 - 164th Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated he lives three homes east of Jerry Schmidt. He ~ill not see the building itself. In five to ten years, the value of everyone's home abutting ithe golf course will be higher than the house across from the golf course. The course h~ made great strides to work with concerned residents and have worked hard to accommod~ them by moving the building and berms, etc. The golf course is a business - a co~xwnercial venture. He felt it was too bad a more congenial location could not have been fourld but he was present to support the construction of the building. The higher value of the property in the area is because of the golf course. He added that if a violation occurs pertaining to the use of the maintenance building, it will be brought back before Council. Sue Schmidt, 5831 - 164th Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated that the golf course has been asked to clean up an~d that it has been a dump since it was built. She stated there are many reasons shedn~s not want the bttilding where it's proposed and one of them is that she will lose a lot of cn~oyment~ She complained that she will have to listen to the noise from the maintenance b~ilding at 5:30 a.m. She inquired if anyone came to their house during their tour to see what their view would be. Councflmcmb~ Zimmerrnan stated that he walked up to her property line. Ms. Schrnidt s~ated that from her property she will see a very large building, especially from October t~b April. She felt the golf course should be made to screen the eye sore. Tom Anderson, 16831 Hcliurn Street N.W., Ramsey, stated he has been involved with the Rum R/ver Hil~s Golf Course from the beginning. The course currently has a maintenance building on th~ west side of the road but it docs create a safety problem. He stated that they have research~ various sites for this maintenance building and that he worked with the City on this. This proposed site is the most acceptable.
