MAINTENANCE

CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR CIVIL
SYSTEM
By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer

CASE # g
DEFENSE SIREN

Background:

The City of Ranlsey has in the past contracted with Doradus Corporation for the maintenance and
repairs to our civil defense siren system. During the development of the 1996 budget, a minor
increase in cost, to this contract had been assumed and a budget of $3,000 was adopted for the
renewal of this particular contract. We recently received the contract renewal price of $3,604,
which is somewl~at higher than what had been anticipated.

Doradus Corporation has the software for testing and evaluating the systems, exclusively, thus is
our only resourc~ for this service. Conversations with the County indicate that other agencies are
renewing their c¢ntracts with Doradus Corporation for 1996.

While the cost ii $604 more than originally budgeted, it is necessary that we have this type of
service contract.i Depending on the outcome of the 1994 actual figures, there may be sufficient
monies budgetetf in other categories for 1996 in the Civil Defense cost center that could absorb this
overage.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the attached contract with Doradus Corporation for 1996
Maintenance of (2ivil Defense Siren Receiver/Decoders.
Committee Action:.
Motion to recorn~end Council approve the attached contra¢(with Doradus Corporation for
Ma/ntenance of Givil Defense Siren Receiver/Decoders.

Reviewed By:

City Administrator
Finance Officer
Police Chief

FC: 1/24/95
