Bill Smith stated ~that in this situation, we are recommending a B trail which is separated by a grassy area. A resident on St. Erancis Boulevard expressed a concern about the safety issues of Highway g-47. Mayor Hardin stat .~1 that Council will be scheduling a meeting with Anoka County and MnDOT to discuss Highway #47. Steve Schwanke s~ated this is a process. The City has held a couple of public hearings plus this is another oppormnit~ to take comment. He encouraged the residents to also submit written comment to the City Counci;1. The attention has been on roadways, etc. That is a result of population and jobs, and that pla.~es a demand on public services. We will continue to work with Staff and Council and added!that public comment is appreciated. He added that this is a tough balancing act to determine how t9 provide roadways, trail ways plus more police service, etc. Bill Smith stated he would like for the people present to bear in mind, we are talking about a plan for the year 2010i and beyond. Response has been helpful - this is not proposed to happen tomorrow. He sta~d that people here have spoken of privacy. He suggested thinking about what it was like befordthey came. The population was lower; how did those people feel when newcomers came ~d changes were made. There were farms here and gravel roads. Things will change and popula~on will grow. The park and trail system is proposed to attempt to preserve that part of that as more Ramsey ~ could be lost people begin to come. It's not to occur tomorrow and the impacts you feol are what others felt. Mr. Schroeder stated that this issue will be back on the Council agenda on April 25, 1995. Once Council approves ~omething, it's submitted to Met Council for approval which will take some period of time. In,October 1993, we submitted something to the Met Council that just received approval in Janu ~aty of this year. During that process, the Metropolitan Council will make demands of this Ci,ty Council. The Met Council will demand updates of housing elements that has not been dealt w~th here m other than a summary fashion. He suggested the residents attend the April 25 meeting tO know what's going on. Ms. Kurak stated if Council votes to maintain lines around Sunfish Lake, may I request they draw our houses in the area; put our homes on there so Met Council can see there are homes there. Mr. Schroeder stated that the maps we use are maps the County prepares for us. If there isn't a line shown there, we will add it. Todd Cook, 1735~ Puma Street N.W., Ramsey, stated he is a Commissioner for the Park and Recreation CommiSsion. This City is going to grow. People have been coming out here in the past and will conti~/i~e to come in the future. The difference is if it is planned growth, the City will be able to accomm~ate youth and adults.
