INDIVIDUAL TRAIL DESCRIPTIONS ~~ ~ ~

TROTF BROOK - MULTI-PURPOSE TRAIL

Ultimately, when this trail system is completed, it will be thc most significant in terms of variety,
terrain, and cxposur~e to nature that Ramsey's trail system will provide. This trail system without
its various connectihg links will be approximately seven miles in length. It will be the only trail
within Ramsey that is designated for use by snowmobiles. The purpose is to provide a
snowmobile trail within the City and also to provide an east/west corridor to complement the
north/south County Roads in providing routes to and from the City to connect the various State
snowmobile trails. This multi-purpose trail will also be used in the winter by cross-country skiers.
Intended is two separate treadways, likely on opposite sides of thc creek. One being for
"primitive" design fOr use by snowmobiles in winter, horses and mountain bikes in the summer,
with a standard bituminous trail on the opposite side. The bituminous side would be used for
cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the winter, with pedestrian and bicyclist use in the

summer.

For purposes of description, the trail would begin at Jar,is Street at the western City Limits. The
Park and Trail Plan shows a trailhead at this location, the exact location is not yet known. At this
point, a person may also go north towards 173rd Avenue N.W. on an on-road B type trail to the
various subdivisions or south toward the Lake Itasca multi-purpose trail system. This trail would
move easterly between the Northfork, Hunters Ridge, and Autumn Heights subdivisions and
through the vast wetlands towards another trailhead at the .juncture of the trail with County Road
#83. This trailhead would be on the west side of County Road #83, directly south of the Autumn
Heights subdivision. The next trailhead would be at Nowthen Boulevard, east of Variolite Street.
The only other trailhead proposed for the Trott Brook Trail is shown at the Trott Brook Trail's
juncture with State Highway #47. The previously described mute is the extent of the snowmobile
trail component of Ramsey's system (excepting county ditches).
