-2-

While we recognize that this results in a rather wide road corridor for Principle
Arterials and Minor Arterials A Routes, please bear in mind that these routes must
carry sigrdfican[~ portions of the traffic in Anoka County and access points to these
routes must be l~mited so that the routes can function in the capacity of moving traffic.

Another important factor in the Function of Roadways is the number of intersecting
streets. Long r ,a~nge planning should be done to limit the number of intersections to the
spacing shown o~ the attached policy.

For Collector .goutes and below, we are requesting 50 feet of right-of-way from
centerline in m'gan areas and 60 feet of right-of-way from centerline in rural areas.

In the case of ~.oth Minor Arterial B's as well as Collectors and below, the building
setbacks as req~ed by local ordinances should be measured from the right-of-way tine
as proposed her~in.

Also for your in[formation and to give you a pictorial view of what these needs would
look like, drawh~gs for Principle Arterials and Minor Arterial A's, Minor Arterial B's,
Urban Collector~, and Rural Collectors are attached.
Again, we request your assistance in maintaining a highway system which can serve the
needs of your residents as well as the residents of Anoka County and those who wish to
visit Anoka Cou~.~ty to conduct business or for other purposes. Because of our lack of
state highways, [he back bone of the Transportation System in Anoka County is the
Anoka County .'.~ghway System and we need your assistance in maintaining a system
that can work roi' all 6f us. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this matter
and we look ~rward to continuing a relationshfp with you that results in a
transportation s~tem which serves the needs of Anoka County.

dmh/2ROW
