SUMNL&RY

We are appea~ing to you as a committee set up by ~he city o~' Ramsey to hear
our case for granting a variance. In order to determine whether or not this is
a legitimate appeal we asked about the reasons and causes for the code of 200
feet ruling in the first place. We were dd there were two reasons.

#1. Emer2encv vehicle access. This ~ c:~se where ample access has
been proven to the satisfaction of the fire chief and public works director,
Dean Kap~an. We mention his name because he offered several comments
about the health and quali~ o~' tim roadway conditions. "I am ~atisfied that
the road surface and clearance wou~d provide adequate access for any
emergency vehicle to the residence." That is the end comment from the
official responsible to ~nspec*. the roadway and insist on appropriate access.

#2. Planning 191. To allow another home present on ~he 27 acres
requires the addition of an identical variance. This could be considered
doubling a problem, in essence, going Backwards from the goat. But if :cbc
goal is being in ~omt conformity'to ~he rule then no. variation/variance from
the rule could ever be considered. We are simply asking for the existing
variance to be applied to an additional house.

Again we wish to say thank you for considering our plea for variance
concerning ci~ road access. This should allow a 4-acre parcel to be subdivided
asing ~he established road system.

Wayne and Marian Meloche

16
