3) There will be no EDA meeting on July 4 - the July meeting has been canceled <br />4) There will be no Council or HRA Work Session on Tuesday, July 5 <br />Filings Closed for Special Election <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that election filings have closed and the ballot will include the <br />following candidates: Brenda Look, Sarah Strommen, Thomas Towberman, and Tim Wrenn. <br />He said the special election will be held on August 16. <br />Mayor Ramsey encouraged candidates to check with City staff about campaign signage rules. <br />Events at The Draw <br />Mayor Ramsey said last week's event at The COR included a wonderful concert by Big Walter <br />Smith, but approximately 100 people attended because of the poor weather. He encouraged <br />residents to attend this week's event featuring sailboat and remote control boats at the <br />amphitheater in The Draw. <br />State Shutdown <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if any City operations will be affected if the State government shuts <br />down. <br />City Administrator Ulrich said the shutdown will have some effect on road construction projects <br />such as a delay in the parking ramp and other roadway projects. He said that while Ramsey does <br />not rely on Local Government Aid, licensing and regulations such as permits through the State <br />will be unavailable, water inspections and private contracting. City Administrator Ulrich stated <br />essential services will be determined and remain in effect, so there are no concerns about health, <br />safety, and wellness matters. City Administrator Ulrich stated the shut down will affect mostly <br />projects and State approval delays, such as Board of Soil and Water Conservation. <br />Mayor Ramsey encouraged the public to obtain their tabs and licenses from the License Center <br />in case the State government shuts down. <br />Ramsey Raceway <br />Councilmember Wise announced that Ramsey Raceway will be open on July 8, which is a slight <br />delay because of the recent rain and weather. <br />9.
