CASE # <br /> <br />SELECTION OF ALIGNMENT OF SUNWOOD DRIVE N.W. <br /> By: Steven Jankowskl, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City's thoroughfare plan identifies a collector street between Trunk Highway #47 and <br />County Road #116 which has been identified as Sunwood Drive N.W. As you know, <br />segments of this collector street have been constructed in the Wood Pond Hills and Sunny <br />Ponds subdivisions. Because of the rapid urban development of the area north of County <br />Road #116 between County Road #5 and #57, them is an increasing need for this collector <br />to be constructed. Hakanson Anderson Associates Inc. has been retained to identify a route <br />for this collector study and proceed with final design of the segment between its current <br />terminus in Wood Pond Hills and County Road #57 so that it can be constructed in late <br />1994. Construction of this roadway will need to traverse wetlands. In addition, the <br />aI~gnment of the roadway will have an impact on the potential for residential development in <br />areas constrained by existing development and topographic features. For this reason, <br />several alternative routes are being considered. Pete Raatild<a of Hakanson Anderson will <br />be at the meeting to present these alternatives and review the relative advantages, <br />disadvantages, and costs associated with each route. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staffs desired action is to obtain a recommendation from this Committee and subsequently <br />from the City Council on a selected route for the roadway.
