PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ralnsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 2003, <br />at the Ramsey Fire Station No. 1, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook, Chair <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember Alan Pearson <br /> <br />Also present: <br /> <br />Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br />Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:33 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding Amending the Process for Appointing Board and <br />Commission Members <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed presented information regarding the process for appointing <br />Board and Commission members. Staff was asked to consider amending the policy to all the <br />Personnel Committee to appoint from a recruitment list created in the previous 12 months, and <br />also consider appointing alternates to serve in the event a commissioner is absent. Ms. Reed <br />described options for minimizing the amount of time it takes to fill a vacancy and the process for <br />amending the Charter, which would be required for changing the Charter requirement for <br />advertising in the City's newsletter. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook suggested that we need to distribute an attendance policy making sure it <br />gets out to the new and existing Commissioners. Staff agreed this needs to be done and the <br />packet exists - but the attendance policy may not have been specifically pointed out. <br />Councihnember Cook recommended that we begin the process for amending the Charter to <br /> <br />Personnel Committee - September 9, 2003 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
