Area C

The developers proposal for this area calls for the removal of existing
mature pine trees and the addition of three to five coniferous trees at least
six feet in height. This appears consistent with the direction of City
Council at their work session meeting.

Reco mm~ mdation:

Staff recommends the following:

1)

2)

3)

4)

That the approved tree preservation line in Area A be staked and
identified with construction fencing, and that trees outside the tree
preservation area be allowed to be removed, following notification
of the adjacent residents of this development.
That no additional tree removal be allowed in Area A, but that
brush removal and grading with small equipment be allowed
within the tree preservation area to provide drainage for Lot 4.
That in Area B the north side of Lot 5 of Block 3 be staked and the
oak trees be cleared within 15 feet of that line. If possible a root
saw should be used to sever the root mass prior to grubbing and
excavating for the wall construction.
That the developers proposal to remove trees in Area C be allowed
and that a minimum of five coniferous trees a minimum of six feet
high be planted to reestablish screenings.

Action:

Motion by Council to approve modifications to the tree preservation area subject to conditions
identified in Staff recommendation.

Reviewed by:

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief
Assistant Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer

CC: 10/14/03
