In 1990 and again in 1998 staff completed some
preliminary research on the process required to obtain a different zip code. Due to staff time constraints,
following through with the project has not be possible. It should be noted that the City Council is also
interested in this issue as they continue to include it in their Objectives and Work Plan they adopt at the
beginning of each year.

Staff is in the pro~ess of reading through researc, h completed by past employees and will continue to
follow through with the necessary steps to determine if Ramsey is eligible to be assigned a separate zip
code. Past research, and discussions with interested parties has indicated that Ramsey was not eligible for
its own zip code according to US Postal Service standards. However, it was conveyed to the city that the
possibility ora new,zip code was becoming more of a reality as populations and routes grew.

Attendance Policy: Attached to the Update is a memo from Givonna Reed, the Human Resource
Manager, reviewing the attendance policy the City Council will adopt on October 14, 2003 for all
Commissions and Board's.
