TO: <br /> <br />CC: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Board and Commission Liaisons <br /> <br />Dean Kapler, Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />October 3, 2003 <br /> <br />Proposed Attendance Policy for Board and Commission Members <br /> <br />The City Council has asked that staff liaisons to the City's boards and <br />commissions advise their respective board or commission members that the <br />Council is considering revisions to the City's attendance policy for boards and <br />commissions. <br /> <br />In response to attendance concerns, the City Council directed staff to draft an <br />attendance policy that would allow the City Council to remove a board or <br />commission member from his or her seat after three absences in any six month <br />period, regardless of the reasons for the absences. <br /> <br />The proposed language is as follows: <br /> <br />A Board or Commission member having three or more <br />absences from regularly scheduled meetings of its board or <br />commission within any six (6) month period shall be cause for <br />removal of that membe'r from his or her seat on the board or <br />commission, tt shall be within the authority of the City Council <br />to remove said board or commission members, <br /> <br />On September 23, 2003 the introduction and first reading were conducted. The <br />second reading and adoption will be conducted at the October 14, 2003 meeting <br />of the City Council. Commissioners' comments may be directed to me or to <br />members of the Personnel Committee (Council Members Cook, Kurak or <br />Pearson). <br /> <br />Thank you. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
