STATUS ..'REPORT ON DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS IN <br /> By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />SECTION #22 <br /> <br />At the AugUst 22, 1994 Council meeting, Staff was directed to prepare a status report on <br />the drainage~improvements to be made in Section #22 pursuant to the Council authorization' <br />of the projedt on August 9, 1994. This report is intended to comply with that directive. <br /> <br />This project has been divided into three major phases; 1) identification of the drainage <br />route and acquisition of easement rights; 2) obtaining environmental permits necessary for <br />the project; hnd 3) preparation of plans, specifications and construction. <br /> <br />The City has initiated Phase I of this project by notifying fourteen property owners whose <br />property may be required to facilitate the project. A copy of the letter sent to the property <br />owners is attached. <br /> <br />The surveying firm of Hakanson Anderson, Inc. will be flagging the proposed drainage <br />route during the week of September 12. Contact with individual property owners will be <br />made following the flagging so that any route modifications can be accommodated. Legal <br />description~; will be prepared following contact with these property owners. Also, a letter <br />has been s~nt to Mr. Jon Olson, Anoka County Engineer, requesting advisement on the <br />procedure I~ecessary to have the County initiate the cleaning of County Ditch #3 as a <br />County pul51ic improvement project. A copy of that letter is attached. <br /> <br />'Phase II ofithe project, obtaining environmental permits, has also been initiated by sending <br />letters to thg Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers describing <br />the intended project and asking for input on what the proposed permit application materials <br />should entel. We are awaiting response to these inquiries, however, we anticipate utilizing <br />Hakanson Anderson to prepare the permit applications at an estimated cost of $500. <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich is reviewing the statutory procedures required under Section 444 to <br />undertake this project as a drainage district public improvement project.
