CASE # <br /> <br />DISCUSS USE OF CITY OWNED AND OPERATED FACILITIES <br /> By: Jessie L. Hart, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the August 22, 1994 Finance Committee meeting, concerns over rental rates raised by the <br />Anoka Women ~f Today, who have started a Ramsey branch, were discussed and reviewed as <br />they related to o~r rental policies. Thi's case relates to information requested by the City Council in <br />regards to that di~;cussion. <br /> <br />At the request oR the Council, we have surveyed surrounding communities and Anoka-Hennepin <br />School District ~11 in regards to facility/room rental policies and rates. The following details a <br />summary of the ~sponses: <br /> <br />City of Andover: ~ <br />Currently allows iuse of facilities on a first come, first serve basis; charges no type of fee; and has <br />no established policies regarding facility use. Permission for use is at the discretion of the person <br />taking the request. <br /> <br />Citvof Anoka: ~ <br />Allows the rental of the community room and council chambers/meeting rooms for various <br />functions. Charg6s for the community room are as follows: <br /> Weekends <br /> Weekdays and Holidays <br /> <br /> Less than 30people $ 25.00 $ 50.00 <br /> More than ¢0 people $ 50.00 ' $100.00 <br /> <br />Note: All charges are per day. There are additional charges for damage deposits and kitchen fees if <br />food will be servecl. <br /> <br /> Exemptiong.f?om charges include: <br /> Senior ¢~nzens functions <br /> Voting <br /> Government or school meetings <br /> City employee functions <br /> <br />Charges for the cguncil chambers/meeting rooms (approximately 30 and 15 people capacity <br />respectively) are as~follows: <br /> <br /> A $20.00 cl'iarge for the use of these rooms, no food served and coffee allowed. <br /> <br /> Can only beiused for the following (all get charged):i. <br /> Civic organizations ' · <br /> Non-pm}St organizations <br /> (exclude~ religious ~oups for the purpo,se of prayer.meetings or fundraising) <br /> <br />The Anoka policies do not allow for private parties - all events must be open to the general public. <br /> <br /> <br />
