RESULTS ~A~{D COMPARISONS

In 1979,i a inventory was conducted in the City of Ramsey to
determine the population characteristics of tree species in the
City of ~amsey. (1) In 1992, an inventory was begun to classify
~orest Cover types, tree populations, and possible disease
problems~

In !979, .data ~rom 6 sample plots taken in residential areas was
eztra ol ~ted to reDresen' bo~h residential (parcels less than Five
acres) aod non-residential areas (greater than five acres.) Data
~rom thes~ plots may underestimate populations because of physical
improvements made to the site. In 1992 data was calculated ~rom 31
sa3nple pl~ts scattered throughout the city. This data assLumed that
stands were ~ully stocked·

The results of this inventor%~ will be presented along with those of
the !979 program. Because of the difference in the methods of the
uwo inventories, analysis of comparisons can be di~icu!t.

Acreage

In ~979,_ 34%~ of Ramsey was considered wooded. Data ~rom the most
recent in~ento~y shows that 26% of the city is wooded, a reducsion
of 8%.

PoDu!ation

The two re~o~s also depict different po.'puiations. The invento._--y cf
!979 was co~nducted almost entirely through aerial photography.
