MINNESOTA MRT MARKETING TOOLBOX <br />How do state and national marketers fit in? <br />A successful MRT will bring <br />heightened awareness and <br />appreciation of a beautiful and <br />healthy Mississippi River. River <br />oriented organizations are natural <br />partners to help market the MRT. <br />Photo provided by Explore <br />Minnesota Tourism. <br />SUMMARY VISION SETTING <br />The primary roles of these organizations will be to encourage use <br />and awareness of the MRT in a number of ways compatible with <br />their existing roles: <br />Provide links to the MnDOT and Explore Minnesota MRT <br />information <br />Include the MRT on maps and services provided as they relate <br />to the MRT such as camping, bicycle camping, restrooms, <br />showers, water, picnic areas and river access. <br />Include the MRT in catalog listings <br />Use the MRT in guided events <br />Provide resource assistance to MnDOT and Explore Minnesota <br />MISSISSIPPI RIVER ORGANIZATIONS <br />The MRT has great potential for creating market synergy with other <br />river organizations, especially those oriented toward tourism, like: <br />Mississippi River Parkway Commission <br />Great River Road National Scenic Byway <br />Minnesota MRT Governance Board (future) <br />Some ways these groups can help to market include: <br />Provide links to the Minnesota MRT information <br />Include the MRT in maps relating to the river, other <br />transportation routes and river related tourism and education <br />Create tour itineraries involving multiple modes of <br />transportation <br />Share marketing information about the destination areas and <br />the river <br />Use the MRT in campaigns to improve education and <br />awareness of the river's importance <br />MARKETING PRODUCT AUDIENCE STRATEGY IPARTNER1 SUPPORT <br />Minnesota Mississippi River Trail Bikeway Page 7-8 <br />
