cass # 7'

DISCUSSION OF STAFF DIRECTION FOR
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW ORDINANCE
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

Since the July 21~ 1992 City Council goals workshop, there has been a pending staff direction that
requests the PI ~ar~ning Commission to research the need and benefit of an architectural review
ordinance. At the meeting on August 2, 1994, the Planning Commission directed City Staff to
retrieve the minuses of the workshop where the task originated; the minutes are enclosed for your
review.

Observations:

Looking back at ~the minutes from July of 1992, none of City Staff are exactly sure where the
discussion was h~aded and what the scope or function of the architectural ordinance would be.
Was the intent toiraise Ramsey's minimum home value? protect established home values from
being lowered by [development of minimum requirement homes in same neighborhoods? would it
also apply to com/'nercialAndustrial?

Recommendation:

Will be based on Your discussion.

PC: 10/4/94

5!
