The developers should be required to provide a pedestrian/bicycle link corridor connecting
a residential street in Northfork Oaks to 164th Avenue N.W. in the Woodlawn Estates
Subdivision. This link would allow residents to the east to access the trail expeditiously
and will provide Northfork residents access to Central Park. It is believed that shortening
the distance to Central Park to about a mile would be an important consideration for
Northfork residents. Pedestrian/bicycle access to the Game Fair site, and others, may also
be desirous. While an eventual pedestrian/bicycle connection will occur at 153rd Avenue
N.W. to County Road #83, and again at 167th Lane N.W., we can see by looking at the
map that not providing this connection would negatively impact recreation accessibility in
this area and would be poor planning as it relates to sustainable travel.

If the developer felt strongly that this neighbor street connection, via a pedestrian/bicycle
path, should be credited toward park dedication, this could be applied to areas south of
153rd Avenue N.W. or West of Andrie Street N.W.

Commission Action:

Motion to recommend a tree conservation and reforestation plan be submitted at the time of grading
plan submittal.

and -

Motion to recommend that the developers be required to provide a corridor for bicyclist/pedestrian
travel between a Northfork Oaks residential street and 164th Avenue N.W., no less than 35' in
width, at a specific aligmnent to be detem~ined by City Staff.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Copies also distributed to:

City Administrator
City Engineer
Zoning Administrator
Dennis Peck, North Fork, Inc.

P&R: 8/11/94

I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I,

I
I
