CASE # /

TOWING CONTRACT FOR 1995
By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer

Background:

On January 3, 199~4, the current towing contract with Duane's Towing will expire. This contract is
for services provided to the City of Ramsey Police Department.

The renewal period of this contract is for January 4, 1995 through January 3, 1996. The prices
reflected in this cc/~tract do not reflect any increase over the last contract, which covered two years.
Mr. Bouley, ownar of Duane's towing indicated there is not an increase for 1995 but most likely
will be for 1996, therefore, it is the intent to enter into a one year contract at this time.

Chief Auspos has indicated that the services provided have been very good, and little, if any,
citizen or officer Complaints. There is not a significant cost factor to the City with the services
provided in that tl~e majority of charges are levied to the owners of the towed vehicles and very
infrequently will Ithe police arrange for a tow that the City pays for. Restitution is generally
received when towing a defendant's vehicle for purposes of an investigation.

Attached is the aontract for the services currently provided by Duane's Towing. It is not
anticipated that any service levels will change.

Staff's Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the attached contract with Duane's Towing for towing service for
the term of January 4, 1995 through January 3, 1996.

Committee Action:

Motion to recommend Council approve the attached contract with Duane's Towing for towing
service for the term of January 4, 1995 through January 3, 1996.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Finance Officer
Police Chief

FC: 11/22/94
