CASE # 2 <br /> <br /> ~ STATUS OF THE PATROL OFFICER HIRING <br /> ~By: Kay' McAloney, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On November 20 and 27, 1994 an advertisement ,,,,'as placed in the Sunday Minneapolis <br />Star Tribu~ for the position of Patrol Officer, with a deadline of 5:00 p.m. Friday, <br />December 2i 1994. The minimum requirements for the position were: 1) a full-time POST <br />license, and p.) two years full-time licensed law enforcement experience. <br /> <br />Sixty-seven((67) applications were received for the position. Five (5) applications were <br />received after the deadline expired. Twenty-eight (28) did not meet the minimum <br />qualificationS;. Thirty-four (34) met the minimum qualifications and scored between 60 and <br />90 (on a 100:point veterans' preference scale). <br /> <br />The Police Chief and Sergeant chose to interview all of those applicants rating 76 and <br />above, whic[h ,.vas a natural break in the scoring. The first interviews will take place <br />December 1}th, t6th, and 19th using an intervie~ panel of an outside agency's Sergeant, <br />our Sergeang Personnel and two current Patrol Officers. The Police Chief will attend the <br />interview bu~: not be a scoring member. <br /> <br />The top ten i~coring individuals will be sent for a pass/fail physical agility test through <br />Anoka Counly. Those passing the physical agility will come back for a second interview <br />with the sam~ panel members and the City Administrator. The Police Chief will take the <br />place of the 6utside agency's Sergeant during this phase of the interviewing process. <br /> <br />Police Chief :Auspos and City Administrator Schroeder will make their recommendation to <br />the Personnel:Commmee once a finalist has been determined. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />None.
