2) Environmental Policy Task Force

Councilmember Strommen explained that the Environmental Policy Task Force began working
on the wetland ordinance, but one of the things that may tie into that is looking at a broader green
space plan. The Task Force was seeking some direction if the Council would like them to
incorporate the study of a green space plan along with the wetland ordinance.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she would like to know more about the issue as they progress.

Counci!member Strommen replied that they would be looldng at a very open process as they
move forward. They were. questioning if the Council was comfortable with them proceeding
with that route.

Mayor Gamec recommended that the Task Force provide the Council with the information.

r
Councilmember Strommen also noted that the Task Force needs to get fully staffed in order to
work on the issue and requested that it become a priority for the Personnel Committee.

Councilmember Cook stated that the one question he would hav~ is are they going to try and
incorporate the ~'een space with park dedication. He stated that he did not mind them moving
onto another topic, but that is why the Council needs to consider making them a Commission
rather than a Task Force where they establish terms, etc., like the other Commissions.

Councilmember Strommen replied that that is the issue they are requesting be moved up on the
priority list so they can work as a full ~oup.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by. Councilmember Strommen, to ~.djoum the
meeting.

Motion carried.

The City Council Work Session of the City Council adjourned at 9:34 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nanci Libor
Recording Secretary
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, _rna

James E Norman
City Administrator

-40-

City Council Work Session/October 7, 2003
Page 14 of 14
