CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br />Position Title: Captain <br />Department: Police <br />Immediate Supervisor: Police Chief <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />Assist with the planning, coordinating and managing department operations in <br />order to provide protection and safety to the community. Serve as acting Chief <br />of Police when assigned or during emergencies and the Police Chief is not <br />readily available. <br />RESPONSIBILITIES <br />A. To be the "Second in Command" of the Police Department and the <br />immediate assistant of the Chief of Police. <br />B. Oversees the operation of all units within the Police Department. <br />C. Assists the Chief of Police in the preparation and administration of <br />the budget. <br />D. Reviews and revises policies, procedures, rules and regulations of <br />the police department. <br />E. Represents the Chief and the department at various meetings and <br />civic functions. <br />F. Supervise the sergeants responsibilities. <br />G. Perform other duties as assigned at the verbal or written directions <br />of th Police Chief and/or the City Administrat r. <br />TASKS RELATED TO RESPONSIBILITIES <br />A. To be the "Second in Command" of the Police Department and <br />the immediate assistant of the Chief of Police. <br />1. Observe and review work performance for the <br />purpose of evaluating assigned employees. <br />2. Monitors orl loads of department units. <br />3.
