POSITION TITLE: <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />POSITION TITLE OF <br />IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: <br />FLSA STATUS: <br />SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br />Director of Public Works <br />Public Works <br />City Administrator <br />Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />The Public Works Director has overall responsibility for the conduct and performance of all <br />personnel in the Public Works epartment; the development, implementation and enforcement <br />of policies and procedures; coordination of activities and resources in constructing, inspecting, <br />and maintaining public infrastructure consistent with Council policy and with Federal and State <br />regulations; and short and long term planning to ensure that the level of service provided meets <br />the expectations of the City Council, City staff and community. <br />A. Supervise and direct Public Works department staff in a manner that promotes team <br />building. <br />B. Develop and maintain a capital improvements program. <br />C. Develop and recommend a Public Works budget program. <br />D. Coordinate activities and resources of the Building Maintenance, Parks, Streets and Utilities <br />divisions to maximize effectiveness of the Public Works Department. <br />E. Develop and implement, in conjunction with other departments and outside agencies, an <br />action plan for dealing with natural disasters. <br />F. Provide community service /public relations activities. <br />G. Perform other duties as assigned (within the ability and resources of the Public Works <br />Director) at the verbal or written direction of the City Administrator. <br />DAILY TASKS RELATED TO SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />A. Supervise and direct public works department staff in a manner that promotes team building. <br />1. Assist initiate recruitment and selection activities. <br />2. Delegate work and schedule employees. <br />3. Assess employee performance. <br />4. Arrange training for the department. <br />
