Issue: <br />Continued need to reduce staff costs while achieving strategic <br />Proposal: <br />1. Consider elimination of the position of Economic Development/Marketing <br />Manager to reduce the number of management staff positions, while decreasing <br />overall staff cost. The position is currently funded at $98,396 for salary and <br />benefits. <br />Issue: <br />Quality control, customer service, and citizen responsiveness in public oaks have been <br />below the expected standard <br />Proposal: <br />• Page <br />Economic development is, and is likely to remain, a strategic priority and <br />reducing staff will have some impact in this regard. The re- focusing of the <br />Community Development Director position, and the retention of the <br />development manager consultant contract, will ensure that significant City <br />resources will continue to be devoted to this function. Prioritizing the work <br />program of the EDA will ensure that any economic development activity <br />continues to meet the highest needs. <br />Enhance Public Works quality control, customer service, and citizen <br />responsiveness by: <br />1. Providing customer service training of all staff <br />2. Implement Customer Request Management (CRM) system <br />3. Implement performance measurement system <br />4. Implement job quality review <br />5. Increase direct City Administrator involvement <br />Savings with staffing changes can be used to purchase the resources necessary to <br />provide the above training and systems improvements. <br />
